How about a fairy princess!  It’s simple to face paint some swirlies, a makeshift crown on her forehead or some glistening stars around your little princess’ eyes.

We’ve just added FIVE new full-face Halloween designs to the Easy Face Painting E-Guide.  In minutes, you can make a simple puppy costume go from ‘just okay’ to spectacular.

We’ve given you step-by-step photos and instructions on a:

Bunny Face,
Puppy Face,
Super-Simple Butterfly Face,
Princess Accent
and

Scary Tiger!

These full-face designs are not only perfect to enhance Halloween costumes, but really fun to paint any time of the year.

Easy Face Painting Designs And Ideas

Without formal training, it is still possible to create simple face painting designs that are also eye-catching and beautiful.  Cheek art is the best way to accomplish simple face painting.

One of the biggest benefits of developing simple face painting designs (or cheek art) is saving time.  In a fraction of the time, you can paint a small design or character on a child’s cheek or arm and generate the same kind of “wow” that you would if you easy face painting designsspent ten minutes painting an elaborate full face design.

Versatility is a big advantage with simple face painting.  These small designs can be adapted and painted on the face/cheek, neck, shoulder, legs and arms.  A simple snake looks fantastic slithering up the arm.  A rose or other flower looks beautiful on the shoulder.

Here are some things you can do to create simple face painting designs for your kids or kids at heart.

1.    If you’re at a loss as to what designs to start painting, look no further than the television or movie theatre.  What is the hottest kids’ movie playing right now?  What about the funniest animated show?  Classic children’s television programming is also a great place to start.  Particularly for preschoolers, the characters are very simple in nature and therefore fairly easy to replicate.

2.    A clown face is a very simple face painting design.  And since clowns can be happy, sad, silly or goofy, this one simple design with a few adjustments around the mouth is a great face painting design to have in your arsenal.  A bright red nose, a larger than life red mouth (paint around the outside of the lips), large white area surrounding the red mouth, oversized eyebrows and some eye lines that extend from the outside of the eye toward the temples altogether make a simple clown face painting design that will get rave reviews.

3.    Turning a little girl into a fairy princess is as simple as a few feathery lines around the eyes, starbursts at the end of each line and a bit of glitter.

4.     Painting a pretend bracelet or necklace is a simple design yet very unique.  Start by painting pearl sized dots around the wrist or neck and “dangle” a painted heart, peace sign or other “charm” from the painted “jewelry.”

5.    Try a simple rainbow face painting…a classic, but always popular.  Paint red, yellow, green and blue ‘horseshoe’ shapes and add two little white puffs for clouds at the end of each side of the rainbow.  Voila! A happy kid!

Simple Face Painting Design

The possibilities for simple face painting designs are endless. Don’t get caught up with the elaborate work that professional face painters do.  For a single birthday party, volunteer event or just having fun with your kids, simple face painting designs can be just the thing to put a smile on a kids’ face.

Using The Right Face Painting Supplies

When you decide to include face painting as an activity at a kids’ birthday party, school festival or community carnival, the most logical place to purchase supplies seems to be the local craft store.

Your list includes some face paints, brushes, sponges and glitter … not too difficult to find locally, right?

Wrong.

Unfortunately, most local craft retailers do not stock the most appropriate tools and supplies for truly safe Face Painting.  You may have seen other face painters usingeasy face painting supplies everyday craft paints, but this is not the best paint to use for the safest and most attractive face painting designs.

A child’s skin is sensitive.  To truly have a successful and safe event (which means happy kids and happy parents), using the proper Face Painting Supplies will make all the difference.

The only kind of paint that is truly safe to use for Face Painting is FDA-compliant, water-based face paint.  The packaging will say “Face Paint” as opposed to “craft paint,” “acrylic paint,” or “tempera paint.”  These types of paints, not specifically made for skin, can cause serious allergic reactions to the skin including burning, redness and irritation.  Some craft paints could also stain skin.

Water-based Face Paints are easy to use, dry quickly and wash off easily with soap and water.  And the best part about authentic Face Paints is that they are no more expensive than your average priced craft paint.

The same principle applies to glitter.  Craft store glitters usually contain metal particles that can get into the eye and cause abrasions and irritation.  When utilizing glitter at your Face Painting events, choose cosmetic grade polyester glitter.  An alternative to glitter is to purchase “sparkle” Face Painting, where the glittery glow appears right in the paint.

Although some major cities may have theatre supply or clown supply stores that sell authentic, safe Face Paint, the best place to find the largest selection of Face Paints in a range of prices is the Internet.

Face Painting can be a memorable experience for kids at parties, festivals, carnivals or picnics.  By using the proper tools and supplies, you can be sure that the children will be part of a safe and fun activity.

Face painting, whether it’s at a birthday party, for Halloween or for another event is always a  winner with kids of all ages.  If you’ve never face painted before, finding Simple Face Painting Designs that you can master quickly and easily may seem like an impossible task.

A simple face painting design is nothing more than an entire design broken down into steps.  It’s easy to look at a beautifully painted face and think “There’s no way I can do that.”  But when broken down into simple steps, the whole thing comes together in the end and you’ll being saying “I can’t believe I did that!”easy face painting

Many kids crafts books will have at least a small section with a face painting pattern of some sort.  The more complicated face patterns will come in handy when you need the step-by-step directions.  Good directions will keep it simple, showing individual photos of each layer as it is applied.

Halloween is probably one of the most popular times to paint faces, especially for full face painting.  The choices are never-ending:

Vampires, pirates, clowns, witches, bears, ghosts, pirates, genies, princesses, bumble bees and bunnies.  My kids had their Fall Festival at their school last week and every second grade girl was running around with their entire face painted like a jack-o-lantern.  It’s a super simple face painting idea!

Just paint the circumference of the face in orange.  Let dry for a minute or two.  Paint black triangles around the eyes, an upside down triangle around the nose and a jagged smile around the mouth.  Simple and fun!

Many parents just can’t afford the costumes or simply don’t want to invest in somethingEasy Pumpkin Painting that will be outgrown before the next year’s event.  This makes face painting a great choice.  You can paint the right face and pull together some of your own clothes to make it work!  I listed some easy Homemade Halloween Costume Ideas on my blog at Easy Pumpkin Painting.

A bunny face is a simple face painting pattern to follow.  The most prominent feature would be the buck teeth, followed by the whiskers.  If you want a mouse pattern, just use a dot of paint to accent the nose.  Place tiny dots on each side of the top lip, apply whiskers coming away from the dots towards each cheek area and bright pink cheeks.

Here are some additional examples of simple face painting ideas.  Full face painting is great for Halloween, but sometimes, for other events, a small cheek art design has just as much impact.

Of course, if you’re not inclined to create your own Simple Face Painting Ideas, take a risk-free try of  Easy Face Painting.  We’ve done all the hard work for you.  With over 50 designs (including full-face Halloween designs!) broken down into an easy-to-follow step-by-step format, there are sure to be simple face painting designs perfect for your event.  You can see a step-by-step example here in our article about Free Face Painting Ideas.
